My favorite relative to spend time with was my cousin Reggie. He lived in a nice neighborhood
in South Charleston. There was always something to do. The local school had playgrounds and ball
fields. Rock Lake Pool was nearby. It was flat so we rode bicycles everywhere.
In age, Reggie was between John and I, and we were the “Three Amigos” He was once f the cool,
popular kids and had lot of friends. We spent enough weekends and weeks in the Summer that they
became our friends too. We always had enough people for a good game of basketball, football, or
baseball.
Reggie’s dad worked the “night shift” and slept during the day. Around the house we had to be
quiet. We chose to ride bicycles somewhere else – to the school, the pool, the store for a treat. The
whole area was flat and easy to ride. We often rode o see other relatives. In a patch of woods along the
river ere had our own off-road obstacle course. It was great. We often rode just to feel the wind in our
face.
Most important, we made memories that last a lifetime.

I had an Aunt as a favorite, her name was Sarah Jane. She took me everywhere with her. She even took
me to help pick her glasses out for her. She let me pick a pair I Like because of the color. I spend a lot of
time at her house during the Summers. She lived in the Country away from anyone. She had chickens
that we feed and chased every day. She had kids that were younger than me, it was fun to play with
them also, but would rather spend time with my aunt. As I got older and didn’t spend my Summers
there, they are still a cherished memory.
